Laboratories and research facilities commonly use a Spark-free Refrigerator to store flammable, explosive, volatile, or corrosive chemicals and experimental reagents safely.
This refrigerator provides 360 °C explosion protection and is fully certified to the ATEX II C-T6 EU standard. It is among the highest ATEX-rated refrigerators available for life science applications and requires a safety barrier for the temperature sensor.
By incorporating a zener barrier, quick fuse, current-limiting resistor, or voltage-limiting diode, the design limits electrical energy input. This prevents the sensor from igniting flammable or explosive substances inside the cabinet. Unlike other spark-free refrigerators, these units are inherently safer by design, making them suitable for use in Zone 2 environments.
