These Batch Effluent Decontamination Systems use batch sterilization, a common method for treating high-throughput effluent. The system typically consists of two or more tanks operating in a run-standby configuration (a single-tank option is also available).
When the first tank reaches a preset level, sterilization begins while the second tank continues to collect additional waste. Once sterilization is complete, the first tank is emptied and remains on standby until the second tank reaches the appropriate level to start its cycle.
This approach ensures continuous effluent collection without delays during sterilization. Tank size and quantity can be customized to match the specific throughput and requirements of each customer.
Effluent types vary by project, but typically treatable sources include:
Tap water from sinks and wash basins
Water from washroom facilities within the containment area
Sanitary waste from toilets
Water from showers and other cleaning facilities in the containment area
Any water or exhaust from sterilizers used within the BSL-3 area
Colour touchscreen controllers
Analogue jacket and chamber gauges
Double valving on effluent input
Manual override functionality
Jacket heating and cooling capabilities
Stainless steel vessels (various grades available)
Pumped or non-pumped system options
Integral or external steam supply
Fully demountable design for easy shipping and installation
Radar level control for precise tank level monitoring
Steam-sterilizable retentive bacterial filter (one per chamber)
Inspection port
Primary stainless steel pipework up to the first valve
Special design eliminating the need for safety valves on the sterilizing chamber
